Revision Policy & Feedback Guidelines

To ensure that your project moves forward smoothly and meets your expectations, Salt & Spell operates a structured revision pipeline. By defining feedback stages, we minimize delays and focus our creative efforts on polish and quality.

How Revisions Work

Stage 01: Sketch & Composition

We deliver black-and-white thumbnails or line drafts. Feedback at this stage should focus on composition, anatomy, pose, layout, and general perspective. Once sketches are signed off, we proceed to rough colors.

Stage 02: Color Roughs

We apply basic lighting and base color schemes. Feedback here should target lighting direction, color palettes, contrast, and overall atmosphere. Major changes to lines or character poses are not included in this stage.

Stage 03: Shading & Render Polish

We render textures, details, and finalize formatting. Feedback is limited to minor adjustments (e.g., contrast tweaks, saturation fixes, small rendering adjustments). Redesigning or changing anatomy at this stage is considered out of scope.

Standard Package Limits

  • Explorer Tier: Up to 2 revision rounds per deliverable.
  • Creator Tier: Up to 2 revision rounds per deliverable.
  • Signature Tier: Up to 3 revision rounds per deliverable.

Out of Scope (Major Changes)

The following requests are considered major changes and fall outside standard revision rounds:

  • Changing character concept, core pose, or gender after the sketch stage has been signed off.
  • Redesigning card frames or UI structures after final renders have been initiated.
  • Any additional revision rounds beyond your package limit (billed at a flat fee per asset or $50/hour).

Revision Note

Any feedback must be delivered within 5 business days of asset delivery. If no feedback is received within this window, the deliverable will be considered approved, and production will proceed to the next stage.
